Vintage Mitchell Lumintone Model 1260 Lamp Radio

Mitchell Lumitone model 1260 Bakelite Lamp Tube Radio
the lamp does function, I believe it is a tri light socket but I only had a regular light bulb to test.
the radio hums and makes squelching sounds when turned on. I could faintly hear a station but was unable to tune one in.
no damage to the bakelite case but some paint wear
the tuning dial is cracked and has been re-glued, the lampshade has crack - see photo
also a wire is coming out of the botton, not sure of it's function.
