    Description

This is a recipe book published by the makers of Rumford Baking Powder in 1934. (The use of the NRA Eagle on the cover dates it; this was a FDR-administration program that was ruled unconstitutional in 1935.)
The booklet contains 36 pages and measures approximately 4.75 x 6.5 inches. In addition to the various recipes there are small illustrations throughout the booklet.
Rumford Baking Powder has been a trusted name in baking powder for generations. Now known as Rumford Center, the company began in 1856 in Providence, Rhode Island, as Rumford Chemical Works, producing and shipping baking powder across the nation and around the world.
At its height of activity around the turn of the 20
    th
century, Rumford Chemical included 300 acres of working farms and communities to sustain the factory workers, and the Village of Rumford was called the "kitchen capital of the world."
The most popular product from the Rumford Chemical Works was Rumford Baking Powder, a double-acting baking powder which was revolutionary in minimizing the time and labor required to make breadstuffs. Products like Rumford Baking Powder led to the creation of new types of cakes, cookies, biscuits and other baked goods.
